Hmmm....Where's the Chief? (Assistant)

The Pensacola Police Department has a long history of having a Chief of Police and a Assistant Chief.

Its almost like a so and so begat so and so...just less biblical.

Simmons was an Assistant Chief before Chief
Alexander was an Assistant Chief before Chief
Lyter was an Assistant Chief before Chief

Lyter has no Assistant.  Is this intentional or an oversight on his part?

With the time he is taking away from the department for more important family issues shouldn't the PPD have an Assistant Chief to step in?

Hmmm.

Your right, Lou Goss did'nt have an assistant. Chapman had Potts. Potts had no one. Mathis had Simmons. Simmons had no one. Alexander had Lyter. Lyter has no one. So it comes and goes as you can see. My opinion is you really do not need an assistant Chief. You have Captains making good money. A Captains salary could hire almost three Officers. The PPD has been a little top heavy over the years anyway. Save that expense and hire more Officers. The real story is the hiring of people that failed their backgrounds just to make the numbers work for Sisson. Lower your standards, hire thirty idiots, and hope that 15 make it. Thats what Sisson has done to your PPD.

Crime in Pensacola is escalating at a rapid rate. Hec, even East Hill is finally feeling the heat with home burglaries, car burglaries, and a car thefts just this past weekend. Maybe they should appoint an assistant Chief because Lyter is out of the office so much now.

Fact is, the manpower at the PPD is the same as it was back in the 1980s. Before Airport Blvd was developed, before the Mall and Bayou Blvd were developed, before downtown was developed. So your Police force has not kept up with a growing city. Compare the population in the city in 1982 with today, and then look at new businesses today compared to 1982. I think you'll be suprised. Well, same number of Officers working the streets, probably less. In 1982, there was a MINIMUM of 9 Officers on the streets at night. And tonight there will be 9 Officers working the streets. The PPD has become a reactive response department. They are to busy to look for burglars. Same with the Sheriffs Office. And, the volume of calls have doubled in 35 years. Low pay + crappy FRS retirement plan + political Police puppets = no applicants. Who suffers? The citizens. Lets keep kicking that can down the road.

At least the Sheriff has the guts to admit there is a retention problem in our area. This is a rough area for LEOs. Once these guys and gals get some experience here, they leave for much better pay elsewhere and have a better chance of advancement. And they are doing the same job. Police work is police work wherever you go. Don't ask the politicians how the departments are doing. Talk to the FOP or PBA reps. They will sometimes give it to you straight unless the Mayor has promised them a promotion. May God bless our men and women in blue.

"even East Hill"because that's the only Neighborhood that the Mayor gives a F about. Sidewalks needed on Burgess Road so kids don't have to walk in ditches yo school or get hit by cars, he could care less; raw sewage spills on his Corrine Jones (who he couldn't even spell correctly) retention pond, the Mayor doesn't care.

The sad thing is that most citizens dont understand or even know what a buffoon the mayor is. All they see is a vibrant downtown and think he has something to do with it. They see his pearly whites on commercials and gatherings and he appears to be a trust worthy man. Do not be fooled. He is a wolf in sheeps clothing people. He makes terrible decisions, and surrounds himself with people that think like him. The good news is that this should be his last year in office and the next Mayor can clean house. You would think it would be a easy campaign to run against him. He has already dug his hole. ABH 2018. Anyone But Hayward 2018! Let the battles begin.

Sadly, the citizens do not know what a buffoon their mayor is. All they see is a vibrant downtown and think he has something to do with it. They see a pretty boy with a sparkling smile and think he is a honest, nobleman who cares about his people. Do not be fooled. Its a wolf in sheeps clothing. Praying 2018 brings welcome change to city government. From the top down. And lets make sure our department heads are of good morale character also. Not "yes" men and women who can hold a smile like the prince himself. When they speak to council about their departments you believe everything is dreamy. Its a love fest. Far from reality folks. Lets get real. Our community and city workers are watching.

Buffoon nicely put. Hayward is a FRAUD and anyone associated with him is a FRAUD.
