Flags, Flags, Flags Everywhere...Its all Talk with Hayward

Flag on the new patch

Flag on the front of the building

Flags on Every Truck

Deposition Questions for Ashton Hayward:

When you ordered the five flags changed to the State of Florida flag, did you not consider removing it from every City reference?

Mr. Mayor, you found the money to put your million dollar swave on every park, sign, and building but you never thought to remove a symbol many firefighters who had sued the City for racial harassment found offensive?

PPD has a Confederate flag on its badges too. Whatever the policy, it should be consistent.

Mayor Skinny Pants looked real "suave" in the MLK Parade a couple of weeks ago though. He is such a disgrace and really ought to be ashamed of himself.

And the Mayor found the time and our tax dollars to change out airport signage unnecessarily for his intergalactic Pensacon crap.

This is all inappropriate for property and equipment purchased with tax dollars. I can't believe some of the stupid comments on the previous post about the flag. People just seem to want to hold on to their symbols of white supremacy. As one poster stated, that war was lost and that flag belongs in a museum. The civil war was between the USA and the States of the Confederacy over slavery. The southern States of the Confederacy wanted to be seperated from the United States of America and lost. Now the losers of that war want to display a flag that is anti-American in my opinion. How do these individuals have the nerve to tell others they need to leave America? I wonder why that flag isn't displayed at the Capital or why that's not the flag soldiers fight for or why that's not the flag Americans pledge their allegiance to? I know why, because it's not an American flag and does not represent American values or unity....Geesh!

Seeing how we are no longer the "City of Five Flags" and are instead are now the "Upyours of Florida", shouldn't we be removing all flags from our City logos and replacing the with the surfing Fetus Logo?

Hey, I'm back on this post too! There are the historical five flags that flew over Pensacola and then there are the hysterical people who are offended by them. As Julius Caesar once said, "I don't give a rat's patootie that you are offended by every little thing. Get over it!" You don't have to leave America. Just go find a flagless place somewhere in the middle of a desert or somewhere in the middle of Lake Erie. Anywhere but here where you continually bitch and moan. You will be much happier and we will be much happier. The City of Five Flags will get along fine without you!

By the way, it's fine with me if the City of Five Flags is replaced by the Surfing Fetus. We already paid about a million bucks for that doozy. Unfortunately, that would just tighten the wad of a lot more panties. Maybe even the same panties that don't like flags!

Obviously you don't read your history books first of all slaves were brought over to America by the Spanish we still fly that flag then they were sold to people under the American flag and that don't seem to be a problem either. Oh yeah one more thing the Civil War was about separating from the Union let's not forget that there's was just as many slaves in the north as it was in the south... Fresh!

Or maybe let's find out what offends you and stay. Then we can waste tax dollars on whatever it is that offends you and rub it in your face at every opportunity. Idiots like you try to use "history" as an excuse as if that justifies it. I don't give a rat's patootie what flags were flown over Pensacola in the past! This is 2017 and if I want to know about history I'll go to a museum or pick up a book! I don't care about the "surfing fetus" logo one way or the other. I've got a great idea. Why don't you and Brian Spencer take the Confederate flag and wave it in Pensacola Village since you don't "give a rat's patootie" who it offends. Then come back on this board and tell me how that worked out for you.

So you're quoting the same ninkompoop who was afraid of "what those people" in Pensacola Village would do to him and his car when his BMW had a flat tire in that area? The same crooked Brian Spencer whose corrupt wife aurthored the ridiculous charter that's vaguely written to encourage the current corruption at Silly Hall? The same Brian Spencer whose been involved with numerous ethics violations? You get no respect after quoting that clown!

I am very well versed in history. Historically, the Spanish flag has not been used as a symbol of racism, hatred, and intolerance but your beloved Confederate flag has. That's the history those who are living are familiar with. However, people like you want to continue waving that flag as though it's history has relevance now. I agee with other posters that it should be displayed in history books. I am also very well aware of what the Civil War entailed. SLAVERY was a major part of why the South wanted to seperate. For you Rebel flag pundits, you LOST, but the good news is that it's not too late for you to seperate yourselves from the America you wanted no part of! Good riddance to Matthew and those like him.

Sorry, I disagree with you. You are NOT very well versed in history. Ask the native people of Peru and the Dominican Republic what they think about the Spanish flag and they will tell you exactly what it represents. You won't be able to ask the native people of Northwest Florida what they think about the Spanish flag because none of those people exist anymore. History ALWAYS has relevance, even to those ignorant of it.

IF we are going to call ourselves "The City of Five Flags" it is correct to tell the outside world which flags actually flew over Pensacola. We have a nitwit mayor who falsely renamed our airport an "international" airport. It is not and has never has been an international airport. Our mayor is a believer in "alternative facts" and has reportedly told people that "perception is reality." He is wrong. Reality is reality. If anyone can find the photos of Ashton Hayward when he was modeling underwear you will understand why he keeps telling people that "perception is reality."

The problem of trying to lie to the world about airports, flags, or your history is that sooner or later they will always discover the truth. At that point you will forever have lost their trust and respect. Not a good thing for a city to be doing.
