Outzen Bombshell: Hayward Paid Off Reynolds

Rick Outzen published the settlement agreement paid to former City Administrator Bill Reynolds.  It amounted to $80,000 for Reynolds and $14,000 for Reynold's attorneys.

Now, if I recall, the Mayor said he fired Reynolds for cause for leaking information to me at the World of Beers.

Why would the City have to pay anything if Reynold's was released for cause?

Chief Schmitt did not get his 500 hours of PTO!
Chief Glover did not get his 500 hours of PTO!

Outzen notes that the Mayor was facing a SWORN DEPOSITION in the Reynolds case.

What could the Mayor have been so scared of swearing to that he would pay Bill Reynold's $95,000 not to have it come out?

Did the Mayor have the authority to enter into the settlement?  My sources say NO!

In fact, my sources say it may amount to malfeasance.

Council should have approved the settlement.

Where did Barker bury the settlement amounts?

This tar baby has so many issues it will be going on for a while.

Recall the Mayor already!

There is a City Council meeting scheduled for Thursday, 15 Sept., at 5:30PM. — Will this revelation be discussed?

To heck with a recall. Indict him already! And Barker, too!

The common denominator in the "pay-offs" to Reynolds, Castille, Fountain and probably John Asmar (Outzen's attorney who will never tell) is that as "de facto" Mayor's in their respective roles, they know EXACTLY where the Mayor has broken laws, provided favors and enriched friends during his administration.

The Mayor is deathly afraid of going under sworn depositions and/or these individuals telling the truth and what they know.

Is there ever going to be an end to the revelations of corruption. Even Hayward's most staunch supporters must be concerned about being associated with someone who has no ethical threshold.

How can he do that?

My 2 cents ... Bill Reynolds was "told" to release the tip to you and the hush money was just retribution to prevent any more secrets being revealed in deposition. As ASIA says, "One thing is sure, That time will tell" when the firemen have their day in court.

This is beyond ridiculous! When is enough enough? Can ECSO, SAO, ATF, FBI, CIA, Barnaby Jones, Cannon, Hawaii 5-O, Scooby Do, anybody in law enforcement, or just anybody with a badge do something? He's literally robbing the taxpayers blind and getting paid $100,000 a year to do it! Geesh

The fleecing of Pensacola's taxpayers has never been more blatant and out of control. Dick Barker can make money disappear and hide it better than David Copperfield. He has been exposed time and time again for his corruption and "financial creativity" yet nothing ever seems to happen to him.

Oops, I stand corrected, Barker has been punished by enduring multiple pensions, tucking away $400K in the DROP, working beyond the DROP, pay raises and bonuses. Whew! Did I forget anything?

Were Schmitt and Glover supposed to receive the 500 hours of PTO as severance? Something is definitely not adding up here. Sooner or later something's going to have to give!

WOW, when does this crap end?

How much were the legal fees that the city paid to a private attorney to represent them on this?

I hope Schmidt's attorney subpoenas Reynolds, Castille, and Fountain. I'm not certain but I'm guessing that the courts don't honor "I've been paid to keep quiet" as a valid response during depositions.

The last thing the City needs is a babbling idiot giving a deposition. Kryptonite is to Superman what Depositions are to Hayward but it would be comical to see him squirm.
