Spencer Wants To Be Mayor...But How?

Brian Spencer keeps alluding to his desire to be Mayor.  He continues to attempt to position himself for the run.

Brian only has one MAJOR problem standing in his way.

(14) To devote his or her entire work time to the performance of the duties of the Mayor’s office, and hold no other elected public office while Mayor.

You see, Brian Spencer is a busy little beaver.

- SMP Architecture
- GB Senior Living Properties
- GB Senior Living Operations
- Lifetime Lodgings
- SOGO Pensacola
- Palafox Quarter
- Breeze Living
- B K Spencer Inc
- 200 Office Complex Inc.
- Palafox Pinacotheca
- Schematic Design
- Saboo Inc.
- Bayfront Lodging
- Northport Properties

Two Serious Questions
  1. How in the world is Spencer going to convince voters he is devoting his entire work time to the performance of his duties with so many irons in the fire?
  2. Does Pensacola really need a Mayor who uses words like Pinacotheca instead of gallery?

I have seriously asked the question, "How could things possibly get any worse for Pensacola?" Well, it looks like I just got my answer! Brian Spencer = BS (How fitting) and I think everyone can agree that we've had enough BS over the past 6 years.

Didn't his wife play a role in the city's change to the current form of government? With his terrible record and questionable activities while on council, would the voters be blind enough to actually elect another elitist? Is this really the best this city can offer for an elected official? If so Pensacola's future is in really bad shape.

His body of work as a member of city council has not exactly been stellar. In fact, he's been nothing more than a puppet for Hayward. This is definitely someone who can relate to the average citizen and their concerns. A vote for Brian Spencer would mean more of the same old crap we've had in this city for years. How he would even be considered a viable candidate doesn't bode well for Pensacola.

Don't, never will live in Escambia county much less the city. City residents obviously don't care what goes on at city hall. It amazes me that no one stands up to these crooks, so obviously all the politicians, city department heads, and attorneys are on the dole. But will the dull-witted citizens vote them out. NOT LIKELY. They had a chance. All they see is Studer Park and Palafox ST. soon to be renamed Studer St.and the wonderful things happening downtown. Which by-the-way is beneficial to a few, and sucking the city dry.

No thanks Julius Spencer, you've done enough damage to the city.

Can someone please provide a good reason why Brian Spencer should be considered as a good candidate for mayor. I've only heard negative things said about him in the community and now on this blog. I would really like to know the other side if there are positives about him. Thanks!

His wife wrote the charter. It was suppose to be a charter review.
Crystal Spencer went into the process knowing the charter would be changed to strong mayor.

Spencer won his district in the 2014 election overwhelmingly.

He would be an absolutely terrible choice for mayor which of course means he will likely be elected and re-elected after 4 horrible years in office. The citizens of Pensacola seem to be apathetic about local government.

Yet another self-serving politician who clearly wants to be mayor not to serve but to be served. After 6 years of Hayward, how can anybody in their right mind vote for the person whose wife actually wrote the charter? If citizens are unhappy with the past 6 years, they can get ready for more of the same with Spencer as mayor. As I recall, he has been involved in several controversial conflicts of interest, allegedly committed numerous ethics violations, and has been connected with questionable business partnerships all as a member of council. This can't be the best Pensacola has to offer as mayor. If he is elected, I will definitely sell my business and move out of the city. I won't wait and hope for change as I have over the past 6 miserable years.

What the City needs is someone with unquestioned morals, a significant track record of success running a large organization and enough political savvy to work with Council and private enterprise to move initiatives forward. Meanwhile, they will be picked apart by every local blogger, gossip and good ole boy that doesn't get their way. Oh, and by the way, the job pays the princely sum of $100,000/year. No successful person in their right mind runs for this office.

Face it, we're going to keep cycling through the same kinds of losers as the one we have now because that's all the job will attract.

I was completely baffled when Brian Spencer killed the opportunity we had to sell the Hawkshaw property a few months ago. The city had at least two excellent bids for the property and both bidders would have developed high-end residential units. These units would have added substantial property taxes to the city and county for the benefit of our schools and our community in general. I know that Spencer is an intelligent person, so it made no sense to me why he would have gone out of his way to squash such a promising opportunity for our city.

Then, I read this article in the News Journal last week -

http://www.pnj.com/story/news/2016/03/24/high-end-condos-coming-south-palafox/82137524/

It seems that self-serving Spencer was protecting one of his condo deals, and the Hawkshaw condominiums might have stolen some of his sales. Spencer isn't the only person in our city government looking out for himself instead of the citizens he represents, but he certainly is turning into one of the more disgusting ones. We already have a mayor who is in office for his own betterment. We don't need another one like that.
