Longhollow Tower Heats Up

For months, the Longhollow radio tower owned by one of the Mayor's supporters has been brewing just below the surface at City Hall.
  • It was the subject that prompted Eric Olson to target Melanie Nichols with her supervisors.
  • It has been a topic Brian Spencer has tried to dance around with supporters on both sides
  • Many concerned citizens have been researching public records on what actually happened
  • Will Isern has waded in with a "placekeeper" story in today's PNJ where he essentially ends it by saying "I haven't finished looking at the issue for an upcoming story but you heard it in the PNJ first"

Councilman Spencer has added an agenda item on the subject requesting that council and staff review what has occurred with the tower and the possibility the lease can be cancelled and/or the tower taken down.

The issue may be...should the lease have been entered into in 2012 since this is a conservation area?

Someone's head at City Hall may be on the block for this one!

So much more to come.

Let the festivities begin!

The tower is illegal, same as the Manna proposal was. The City should never have issued a building permit.

Only reason Manna didn't get an illegal approval/permit is because the citizens in the neighborhood knew the truth and had a chance to fight it.

This is indicative of serious & long-standing issues in the Planning department (i.e. Ms. Morris is incompetent and unethical, then again, the unethical part is why she has a job and others don't).

Keep digging, if there are two of these cases, there are bound to be 200.

I can assure you that the owner of the radio tower, Gene Church, is a snake. Church runs what can only be described as a "for profit" religious organization. He firmly believes that there are no rules that apply to him, and he does everything in his power to circumvent the rules. For many, many years Church has used surrogate contractors and consultants to obtain permits, while slipping in unlicensed people to do the actual work.

Don't believe anything that this person tells you. He knew what he was doing when he told numerous lies to the FAA. He knew what he was doing when he sent unlicensed laborers to build the tower foundation. He also knew that once the illegal tower was built no one would make him tear it down.
