Hallmark / Levin / Haunted House...Fred Levin wants Law Broken? We need to help here!!

When I posted recently that Levin/Hayward/Vigodsky's Hallmark Elementary site was slapped with numerous code violations and cited for potentially harboring rats, I received the blog post below.

To all concerned: Yes, trailers were parked on the property, and substantial repairs were made to the property including but limited to: repairing the fire alarm system, all air conditioners, windows, doors and the property was cleaned up both outside and inside. All Trash was hauled away. Thank all of you for your complaints as a lot of work by over 20 volunteers who were working to secure funds for a non-profit 501c3 that was working to renovate and promote baseball AND 125 cheerleaders who were to sell tickets so they could go to national competition is now down the drain. Money was also to be donated to kids who could not afford bats and gloves for their sports. We had a EMT, Doctor and extra personnel, 25 exits with lighted signs and escorts, wheel chair accessible on site to look over everything in the haunted house. Thank all of you for your hard work!!! Now all that remains is take down all that was done. Its to bad that your politics have collided with such a worthwhile and noble project.

That sounds like a frustrated dad!

I have been looking into the situation and what the not for profit is being told is not nearly the entire story.  It is true that Hallmark will not be eligible to be used as a haunted house for Halloween.  But more to follow.

Kids should not be in that building.  Levin/Hayward/Vigodsky's building is UNSAFE!

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF AN ALTERNATIVE LOCATION THE NOT FOR PROFIT CAN USE FOR THE HAUNTED HOUSE?

Email me if you do.

Anyone who finds a location will win a framed copy of a letter from Fred Levin encouraging the City of Pensacola to break the law and the thanks of dozens of kids trying to raise funds for their organization.

Seriously, you will!

So the Mayor found a way to get a free clean-up crew to do his dirty work.

Who in their right mind would let their children (or themselves) go into an abandoned building for a 'Haunted House"??? I don't care who is there to "help" the building is ABANDONED!!! I would love to see the insurance issued for this venture. Surely they had insurance didn't they??

First off for everyone who is against this is just plain ignorant this school is in a better shape then it has been there hasn't been any rats in here at all, and for you to go around and give trouble at the last few weeks before it open is even more outrageous for what ever your reasons are with the mayor and Mr. Levin why go around and screw with everyone's fun, donation's, and the children who get most of all the profit ! I think all it is people want to be bullies it's not right and not only that you're hurting all the children that is getting donation's you're wrong for this and half the people commenting doesn't know the half of it, you're just wrong for what you're doing and you're taking it out on the little guys because you're against two people , as for you or anyone to do this is even more crazy because nothing ever happens in Pensacola, it's a boring place especially for the kids, teen's, and adults who don't go spend there money on partying and the ones who are under 18 there is nothing to do around here at all and this gives Pensacola hope because it's better to have a little bit of fun around here besides violence, crimes, and murders you should be happy we are helping Pensacola to become a better place especially helping children do better in sports and to keep them out of trouble the haunted house HELPS and people like you want to DESTROY it I hope you're happy but i know we're not going to give up.

I am the young man, who wants Hallmark Elementary, remodel, bring the building to code and turn it into a Transitional Homeless Shelter and Emergency Shelter....

I dont get caught in Politics, as a Licensed and Ordained Elder at my church, i get caught up doing what is right, im only concerned about helping people. I commend anybody who wants to turn the school into something that is going to help the community...yes of course when using the building it has to be brought up to code, it must be clean and all of that.

Now, the Building is abandoned..... just like all of the many hundreds of abandoned houses or buildings in this city.... Hallmark will be used for something, and it will be brought to code... After they use it for a Haunted House, we want to use a portion of it for a Emergency Shelter, the Portion we use will be brought to code...of course... all of our i's will be dotted and t's crossed.

What amazes me is how everyone has so much wrong to say when people are trying to do something right, but where are you to help.....

I look forward to the Blog, when I pursue it again for a Homeless Shelter/Emergency Shelter.... i encourage all of you to call me at 850-293-8179... if you have questions or concerns.....

7th floor of city hall is a pretty scary place.

So the Mayor and Fred Levin have let this property deteriorate for years, ignored previous code enforcement complaints, blighted this neighborhood, and it's now Maren's fault? NO, it's their own fault. It's also shocking that they would USE children and young adults to do their clean up work for them as volunteers exposing them to drug needles, feces, and goodness knows what else was in that building because they've allowed it to be broken into numerous times with homeless men and drug dealers living inside. That's a huge building. Did the Mayor have the Police go through it to make sure it was secure and that they had cleared out all the men who were living inside BEFORE they let children in to clean? It's truly scary to think about the danger that they exposed to those kids.

And this is the Mayor of Pensacola, and self-proclaimed prominent attorneys in our community committing these acts, then blaming it on "politics" when they are exposed. It's not politics, it's the law. Lawyers should know better and do better. Our City is dragging poor people into code enforcement who can't afford to do better, while our Mayor and our city's richest attorney, who can afford to do better, but don't, bring down a neighborhood's property values. Once their actions, or inactions in this case, are exposed, they get angry and pitch a 'fit' via their e-mail. Keep up the good work Maren, you have the real 'transparency web page' in this City!

Dear Parents:

The owners of this property offered it to you knowing the code violations as well as the hurdles needed to be overcome in order for it to be used as a haunted house.

The owners should be held accountable for damages for their mis-representation.

Good Luck trying to sue these heartless bastards.
