Chief Human Resources Officer Sends Personal Email and Pictures on City Account...Sisson and Workman must be reported to Olson

Open you mouth and you own your words!  In a AM 1620 interview yesterday City Administrator Eric Olson stated:

"We are public servants and we are supposed to follow the rules. If someone shows me where someone is doing something wrong, I need to correct that behavior."

Both of the emails below end with @cityofpensacola.com.
Both emails are presumed to be sent from City computers as they are during work hours.

Mr Olson, does City time and City resources need to be spent by your Chief Human Resource Officer emailing staff pictures of his dog?

If your Human Resource Officer is not leading by example, is that an issue?

Please take whatever corrective action is appropriate.

What is even scarier is the Director of HR flirting with and sending pictures of himself to a DIRECT REPORT!!!! We've been here before with Ashton's senior staff, haven't we? Stock up on the boxes. Moving day is coming.

It's things like this that make reader's eyes glaze over once you've reached them with real news.

Anonymous Glaze,

Consider your introductory subscription refunded. :) If you want real news...you can go see Rick, the PNJ or WEAR. This is Maren's Blog...most of what I post isn't news...yet. I think of it as newsitorial.

Have a great weekend!

Actually, what is written on Maren's Blog can be read in the News Journal about two or three days later (sometimes two months later). Then, whatever is printed in the morning edition of the News Journal will become WEAR's evening news. So even if you skip Maren's Blog you will still have two more opportunities to read what she has written.

Or, you can refrain from reading anything except Dick's Blog. Dicky prints whatever is handed to him by the Studer Worldwide News Organization.

Yes, agreed. Proof is in action not lip service. Olson has an expectation, a standard with regard to citizens but will he follow through with Sisson. Talk about I'll suited for his position, this guy is off the charts.

I agree and my glazed eyes come from a place of upmost respect for a point-of-view from someone who has been in the arena.

Make your words count. Dissenting opinion of the quid pro quo has the people's attention now.

Maren - I think "glazed" has been drinking (or passing out) the Kool-Aid and trying to shift the focus of the comments.

(Derek Cousson is that you?)

Most folks with any sense would think that exposing clear hypocrisy and "doubling-down on dumb" of the City's CAO is very newsworthy.

From Dickie's Blog...Looks like someone needs to fire the Governor and his staff as well.
Losers
Rick Scott
The state of Florida will pay $700,000 to settle a public-records dispute brought by Tallahassee attorney Steven Andrews, who discovered that Scott and two former staff members were using private email accounts to communicate. A California judge ordered in April for Google to turn over correspondence through computer IP addresses from the Gmail accounts of Scott and his staff. The money will come from four agencies—$445,000 from the Department of Environmental Protection, $120,000 from the governor’s office, $75,000 from the attorney general’s office and $60,000 from the Department of State.

Bottom line is that the mayor has got to go. He makes terrible personnel decisions. Ethics, honesty & professionalism don't exist in his world. What you permit, you promote.

Olson has now put a target on every city employee who has send a personal email.

His next book is "How to Win Friends and Influence People the Military Way."

Rules are Rules !

Oh, now, I get it.
I was sending an average of two e-mails per month from my work account in the course of authorized community service activities allowed by my employer..writing on such topics of reporting stolen park benches, and requests for information about streets being blocked etc. If I had been sending flirty pictures of myself and my dog to City Staff members, instead of public records requests for information, maybe Eric Olson wouldn't have minded so much.

Maybe I am naive, and maybe I don't know all of the context, but how is a man sending a selfie of him and his dog flirty? The my buddy bit is from a commercial back in the 80s. I don't see anything worse than coworkers sharing a picture of a dog and maybe an inside joke - and if that's flirting, I might have flirted with a whole bunch of people inadvertently!
