Reindeer Games

As stated the allegations detailed in the previous posts were the foundation of a 2005 Federal lawsuit filed by four brave black firefighters who essentially stated "enough is enough".

The case was before Judge Casey Rodgers...remember that one.

After the case was filed against the City it was time for the City of Pensacola under Tom Bonfield, Al Coby and Rusty Wells to begin their reindeer games.

First came an attempt by City Manager Tom Bonfield to begin to show the City's action on racial issues.  AFTER the suit was filed, AFTER the allegations were sworn to, he needed an action. So Bonfield filed a complaint against a Captain in the PFD for making a derogatory statement about a black officer's promotion.  The black officer didn't file it.  Bonfield did.  Him being such a civil rights leader and all.

The black officer responded that he had handled the situation as this was just a window dressing show for the legal issues the City was in.

Sadly the only person reprimanded officially was the black officer for "failure to place this matter in the proper channel for investigation."

Bonfield-Complaint

So technically the only person EVER reprimanded for racial issues in the City is one of the courageous firefighters who has done so much to end it.  HOW PENSACOLA.

The second slap in the face came when a report was filed against a Captain for harassment and retaliation after the suit was filed.  The City hired the rocket scientists at ALLEN NORTON AND BLUE to investigate and make sure it all went away and no adverse findings were noted.  As the response says...these are the types of proceedings that has contributed to the current situation.

Everyone suddenly forgot...Time to move on

Then finally when one of the lawsuit's principals objects to the process and procedures surrounding the appointment of the new interim chief... before the appointment of the next intern chief, ALLEN NORTON AND BLUE starts a rant of circular doublespeak about how chiefs are appointed, eligibility for the job, non posted jobs and filling them and the that's how we have always done it mentality that will make you sick to your stomach.

Allen Norton & Blue Have An Answer for Everything...As Usual

You would think Al Coby would be sympathetic to the plight of the firemen, that he would go to HELEN back to solve the issues.  He did not.  CHALK that one up to experience.

Don't forget that the manner detailed in the report is exactly how things are done in Pensacola.
  • Al Coby was Interim City Manager until over time he just became the City Manager.
  • Rusty Wells became City Attorney when a selection process was halted and he was declared City Attorney at 10pm on a Thursday night.
In Pensacola, Interim is the easy way to slide someone into a role until you can figure out a way to make it permanent.

All this brings us to the end of 2010 and the beginning of the Hayward era.  True to Hayward form he promised so much and did so little.

The job of Fire Chief has not even been posted since the Mayor took office...not even posted.  On Monday, I will share the how and why.

This is all too horrific to be true! I know that there has to be someone reading this blog who can refute at least some of this. Someone please respond and say this is all made up! I didn't want to believe any of this at first but this shit is getting more ridiculous by the day. The more that comes out the more pissed off I am becoming.

Maren, where are all the public record emails from ashtonhayward@yahoo.com? If he's conducting City business on a private email account, we as citizens have a right to know whats being said.

Looking forward to Monday.

After all of this and the Mayor has failed to appoint a Fire Chief? Epic failure to have all of this to occur and have no one in charge over the past 5 years. Who do these firefighters go to if these problems still exist?

So where does the leadership from the 7th floor go from here? If they remain true to form it will be status quo.

Off topic.
Can we acknowledge the fact that The PNJ (Piss Non Journalists) has finally done a story on the corrupt Derek Cosson making $60 an hour, still working for the city, under contract by a bogus company started by Tamara Fountain's hubby?

Black Lutimothy gets thrown out and fired(for what exactly?) While White Derek Cosson who lied, scammed, insulted the citizens of Pensacola, bullied someone trying to run for a Council seat, gets a $60 a hour contract, cushy City job.

I'd say racism is alive and well in the year 2015 at City Hall.

The Tamara Fountain network definitely doesn't have any black people in it unless of course they're mowing her lawn or cleaning her house.

I hate to say this but I doubt that much if anything comes of this because the black community doesn't stand together like it once did. Things like this continue to happen partly because so-called black leaders (usually pastors) have their own agenda$ and other i$$ue$ that take precedence. Case in point, LuTimothy May was once very outspoken about racial disparities and inequality right up until he got on the City's payroll to basically be quiet. But he's just one example. In my opinion, there are many who have the mentality that if you can't beat em you might as well join em!
